What it's made of

100% Italian linen. Nothing blended in, no viscose, no polyester in the straps. Made in Italy — heavy enough to hold the shape of the gather rather than clinging. Layer it with our Giovanna top, tee or long sleeve merino top.

Will it fit

Relaxed fit, true to size. 

The chart measurement isn't a hard limit on this one. The sides of the pinafore are open, roughly 2-5cm each side, so it accommodates a bust larger than the number suggests. I'm 125cm across the bust and wear the 3XL, which the chart lists at 113..

The straps tie, so you decide where the under-bust seam sits. Loosen them and the seam drops, which is what makes this work on a bigger bust — you're not stuck with a seam cutting across at the wrong height the way you are in a fixed-strap dress. Tighten them and it sits high and close. Same dress, quite different shapes.

What it's like to live with

It's not itchy or scratchy, but soft and gentle against your skin. Linen naturally breathes and it softens with every wash and grows more comfortable with age.

The pockets are in-seam, so they sit flat instead of adding bulk at the hip. Over a merino top and under a coat it carries through winter; on its own it's a summer dress.

It creases. Linen does, and this one is no exception — but the weight and quality of the fabric mean it softens into a lived-in look rather than the sharp, papery wrinkles you get from cheaper linen. Pull it into shape while it's damp and hang it, and it settles. If you want it perfectly smooth, iron it while it's still damp. Most days you won't need to.

Environmental Impact

Biodegradable: Linen comes from the flax plant and breaks down naturally unlike polyester which is non-biodegradable.

Microplastics: Washing polyester releases tiny plastic particles into waterways. Linen creates zero harmful plastic waste.
